This photograph is of the less pitted side of this sword. The hilt appears to be of unadorned iron. The tang extends entirely through the pommel with its end peened nearly flush with the curved rim of the pommel. The pommel is of disk form with the edges greatly rounded. The two faces of the pommel are nearly flat. Traces of wood remain adherent to the reasonably robust tang, and outlines of the ends of the grip remain in the corrosion pattern on the pommel and crossguard. The crossguard has tapered, rounded ends.
