Default CIREBON & TEGAL ornamental hilts

Cirebon hilts have several varieties in form. Older hilts -- influenced by their ancestor of Hindhu Pajajaran Kingdom -- with figural hilts of raksasa or buta bajang motifs, wayang, and ganesha motifs. And and the younger Cirebon/Tegal hilts in ornamental form.

These are examples of Cirebon and the neighboring city of Tegal ornamental hilts..

Default Combination in keris fitting

This is just an intermezzo. Combination of different styles in keris fitting, is commonly done among keris lovers. Of course, it is not part of old tradition. Such as, a "sandang walikat" (an informal form of javanese keris sheath/warangka), wearing Cirebon (northern coast of central java) handle and Mataram (central java) mendhak (pls see pictures).

Yes, the far right is typically Tegal (Ganesha) ornamental hilt... I like the old Jogjanese sheath (the first from left), although it seems not clean enough. But I'm afraid I'm sure it is an old and "classic" Jogja style...

Again, combination in keris fitting. The long one, Cirebon sheath but with Java Demam hilt, and the short one is Cirebon hilt with (informal) "sandang walikat" sheath of Central Java (Solo style).

Cirebon and Tegal, is only (about) 60 kms apart. Neighboring cities in North-west coast of Central Java.

Just a guess: not an old knife, but probably a "cundrik" (short-pedang like keris).

The pamor of my short one, I think it is "toya mambeg" or "banyu mambeg" (the same meaning) or "clogged water", "stagnant water" in English... I don't know exactly the philosophy of this pamor's name.
