Sword monogram

Hello,

I wonder if somebody recognizes this swords monogram, for me it seem a D (?) And a R (rex ?) .

Look at the fotos, I think these are three letters P, D and A

From what I can see the crown looks Swedish, and the letters, if indeed there are three, would be a ligature of initials of an individual. Possibly with the crown, those of baronial figure and likely a military officer or court dignitary.

This 'mameluke' style saber is likely mid 19th c.

Jim might be correct in that it’s a Swedish crown. It’s a royal crown (there’s a hierarchy of rank in crowns that can be used). Looking at Swedish kings in 19thC I came across the attached monogram of Gustav IV Adolf. The letters would then be a rather quirky G and an A (see below).

The unfortunate Gustav IV Adolf was king of Sweden 1792-1809. He was opposed to Napoleon and lost the Eastern half of Sweden (Finland) to Russia in a war which he lost. He was deposed in a coup and sent into exile. He died alone in poverty in St Gallen, Switzerland.

Not sure how well the dates above tie in with the sword. It would have to be quite an early 19thC mameluke style sword. Also it looks rather similar to the British Army Victorian mameluke sword?
