Hi guys due to personal experience

and of others buying keris that have decent old blades but are sometimes let down by poor fittings[fitted for whatever reason].Now if a person wanted to fit a new handle more befitting the blade you can just look on a certain well known electronic auction site for a large selection but where can you get a decent mendak?sometimes a keris can be let down by the mendak alone. The scabbard is another matter

			Hello capt.

I'm not sure if this information is usefull because we live in a different country but for a simple old javanese mendak i'd go to large collectors events. if you want a more rare sumatran or bugi etc. that's a problem. you would have to know the right people. Sometimes it is possible to buy a keris without a scabbard but with a nice correct mendak so you can switch. Just curious > for what kinda keris are you looking? good luck |

Another source for mendek besides auctions or eBay (

) is one of our formites Adni at his website (Singapore). I have purchased from him before and was pleased (thanks Adni ). Here is his site:www.geocities.com/keris4u If he does not have what you want, tell him what you need. |

Capt. I don't want to advertise here for anyone, but if you contact me privately i can direct you to both well made Javanese and Bali mendaks made of real stones and precious metals.

Here are some examples of Bugis and Malay ferrules, or "pendoko" as they're called in Malay. Very diffrent from Javanese or Balinese mendaks.
