That's what I thought. All the twist cores I have seen have been of this type, but not all this type have twist cores. Stefan recently had one on ebay of the same type, unrestored. I emailed him and asked him about it, he saw no signs of twist core. I've been trying to make some sense of the construction style and the twist core for ebay purposes of course. But as usual with swords, just when you think you understand it, the question changes! Either way this was a pretty nice blade, someone made a good deal.
Rick, I see what you mean, it could be something significant, like a reworked blade, or just bad photos. Hard to say, I did not get the photos I requested, someone else requested close ups, be intresting if they got them.
