Congrats,
Nice deep honey colour, often chased by serious collectors. I have one pictured below, it has been sitting so long that only the bottom of the shaft now shows that nice colour showing, though constant rubbing and handling would return it but I am leaving it as. The fibre loop, great to see it still attached. Would I be right in saying the loop should be higher towards to head and it drapes over the arm when carried in the crook of the arm like a royal septre? If all goes well I should have another on the way in the next week. Lew, I am sure you remember the Ula, I recall you asked a question about it but never placed a bid? Again, a great find. Gav |

Thank you fellows, I am rather pleased with it.
Gav, your one looks quite a bit heavier. I have a picture of a modern day chief from "art of Vanautu, Hawaii university press" He carries a heavy club looking similar to yours, it hangs from his shoulder with the knobberly bit towards the ground. When I get the book back I will post the picture. Pictures of my club next to other items. The cord is free to move along the club. I might try and take a picture of all the stick over the weekend. |

Just noticed some subtle differences in the shape of the knob and handle ends.

Great Tim, I'd love to see the image of the chief.
For your interest, this piece weighs approx 1.5 pounds and is just over 31&1/2 inches long. Gav |

Gav your is not as heavy as I thought. Mine is 1lb 6,1/4 oz Yours just looks heavier. I have the book now and the picture in my mind is not in it. I will have to search through the others. That is going to take some time. For the time being I thought this picture was worth posting from the book mentioned before. I hope people do not mind but I have included a picture that is my response to the food bowl in lime stone.
