I would wager the men in the photos are all sheikhs, of one of the various small and semi nomadic tribes in the area that became the British Protectorates. Maybe Qa'iti or Yafa area. The British outlawed the wearing of the Jambiya in Aden and Indian styles came into favor with the South Arabians, perhaps contributing to the disappearance of this style, while the North Yemen type seems to be worn everywhere nowadays.
