Yep Barry, I remember seeing the same handle motif on knives offered for sale in Nogales Mexico back in the '50's .

First of all, I want to thank you all your interest in helping trying to identify the origins of this knife. I forgot to upload an image of the other side of the handle, which is different. So if this can be useful as additional information, here it goes.
