I bought this recently at auction thinking it would make a good wall hanging with a couple of swords. It was advertised as Victorian and I've no reason to doubt that, although my knowledge of historism items is minimal.
I am impressed by the feel of authenticity and it seems fully functional. There are thick leather straps on the back and it is 20" in diameter. The leather has an embossed pattern on the front and the spike unscrews. The leather on the back is much dried out and in poorer condition. Any thoughts? And how do I protect the leather from further deterioration. |
