A new arrival today, a chunky pendant in silvery metal, probably nickel alloy, set with what looks like a carnelian stone. The origin is obviously eastern, but where, Middle East, India or Central Asia?

Nice item and although I don't have any idea as to origin, are those bees around the stone? If so maybe some sect which honors bees in their belief.

Hello,
I have this one bought in south east Turkiye 30 years ago,but must be an older model. They told me it was an old turkish pendant but for me it can be made in Turkiye but I extend untill Caspian sea and neighbours countries...Turkmene origin ? Iran ?.... |

Both can be described as Central Asian. Vintage and not antique. Most probably made by Afghan refugees in Peshavar.

A very precise answer, thank you, but I'm curious.
For how many decades have these Afghan refugees been in Peshawar? ...

David, I believe this is Rajastani from northern India. If so, the silvery metal will likely be 800 Silver (not sterling, which is 925, but still a substantial amount of silver). The "bees" around the perimeter are a common motif. Carnelian is a common stone in their pendant jewellry, and the "chunkiness" of the mount is typical.
