Default Unknown cartouche

anyone recognise this? This is from a new rifle I recently purchased. barrel might be as early as 16th century and the stock is engraved with the date 1769

"SE" = St. Etienne, Manufacture Royale, maker CARRIER, probably Jean Louis, one of a big dinasty of gunmakers.
