I like it….

I suspect the key to this might be the handle pins. I feel like I have seen similar screw fittings on some bayonets.

The closest match that I could find was on a Dutch 1873 Beaumont bayonet. I wonder if that is the same nut used on your sword (installed upside down).

Hmm, perhaps a varient of this model? (I know. Too short and only slightly similar, but blade shape, securing pins similar. I get a feeling your sword is more of a 'munitions grade', not being insulting, but a field sword, like the pioneer models)
