Seems to me that Belgians find rather unusual applications for old swords.
Question: if I want to look for, say, a Yataghan in Belgium, what categories should I search? Shoehorns? TV antennas? Sex toys? Well, that's an idea....

CONGRATULATIONS! Nice treasure buried under all that. Great you were able to shed some light on that. By the way, the wrap looks to be brass not copper. Nice find.
