Whoops, here's the whole thing. What turned me off was how poorly matched the hilt and blade are. They just don't fit together in my eyes.

It's Chinese. But it's a modern Chinese fantasy sword/knife, not a fake/repro historical sword (nor an actual antique).
I've seen similar being advertised as Mongolian. |

Agreed. The Chinese are currently combining all sorts of regions, and time-frames in their "antique" weapons. Some are extremely cool, and imaginative. Unfortunately, they are too expensive for re-sale.
