I have seen wood hilts on these Kurdish jambiya before. Check the blade to see if it is wootz by etching.

my 1st comment to the vendor was that i thought it looked kurdish rather than balkan. my second thought was that i must etch it to see if it is wootz. which i did not comment to the vendor.there's a good chance it might be.

it just arrived. nice wood grip. weighs 210 grams.
haven't etched it yet. no need. the wootz pattern is fairly obvious.  i'm a happy bunny! now, have to find/make a scabbard for her. |
