I look forward to anything you can uncover. I have shown the sword to a native Farsi speaker but unfortunately she was unable to make any sense of the script, she is very young so perhaps it is something outwith her sphere of knowledge.

Hi Charles,
The motif is on both sides of the blade and runs almost the whole length of the smaller top fuller plus it is also on the back edge and again runs most of its length. I have not seen another like it but I believe similar ones pop up now and again.
