Note: of course Jerusalem is a wonderful experience as a whole, but it is full of "antique tourist traps" with just a bunch of legit antiquities stores, working with license, premium prices.
It is WELL WORTH the trouble to travel one hour from Jerusalem to Tel-Aviv/Jaffa. Old Jaffa has been under extensive renovations (and still is), especially the antique harbor area, with 17th century buildings. There is a very large 'suk' style flea market, naturally with fakes but also some real bargains. Avner's shop is located in one of the best spots on a high hill in the middle of the old city (Kedumim square). Artzi was so kind as to welcome us at his home. After excellent coffee and cheesecake he let me look through some of the items he had on hand. I choose the two pieces pictured. I have since ordered 4 more, a katar and three Jambiyas.
