Thanks, Dave! I agree that this hilt isn't close enough to the hilt style attributed to Jambi to nail down its exact origin - the straits area does seem like a safer estimate.

Thanks, David. It was love on first sight and Freddy was kind enough to pass this keris on to me.
The major difference between the two hilts is their size: Noramin's example is a full-size version while mine is diminutive - this probably also accounts for some of the stylistic differences while the general flow of lines does seem to be pretty close. A detailed side by side comparison would be nice - I certainly would be glad to provide some family reunion shots...  Regards, Kai |
