Rick, curious what is underneath the pierced silver? Can you see the wood? or velvet? or ???

As promised, here is a close up shot of the pierced silver so that you can see the silver sleeve in the background, albeit with tarnish that is showing through as black in spots. Also a couple of shots of the blade. Very thick spine with long shallow fuller and then 2 very narrow fullers running along the spine.

Nathaniel, each panel of pierced silver has a silver sleeve that fits beneath it and both slide over the wood scabbard. The silver sleeve beneath has tarnished now, so you get some of that blackish patina showing through the piercings but no doubt they wanted that as a background as opposed to the wood.
