Hi Chregu,
I agree with David, the handle construction is very similar to the Moroccan shula. Then again, as we've seen in the past, there is a strong common Spanish link between the Maghreb, Latin America and even the Philippines, with similar weapon styles apparently stradling all three parts of the world. The handle construction, the scabbard and the blade all remind me of some of the sword/machetes that I have seen that were brought back from Cuba after the Spanish American war.
