you have a point actually. i handled Janbiya's with similar hilt designs that their owners categorized as Saudi but always said to myself its Omani. also, i may provide a picture of a similar design janbiya made in the 70's as a prize for some sport competition. I am a slacker so may take a while though

Hi,
The overall design of both khanjars is Omani. However the top khanjar has been modified repaired on the top and in the detailed filligree work. So overall a repaired modified Omani khanjar. The bottom khanjar only remotely looks like a Saidi khanjar as shown on the photo but deviates from an original in most of the details. Maybe copy of an Omani Saidi khanjar from a neighbouring country, Yemen/Saudi??? Regards, Hielke P.S. I used to live in Oman and have a large collection of Omani weapons |
