Kaskaras have a shorter, blunt tang which has a hole for an iron peg to hold the hilt...

Just finished on ebay - textbook "kaskara fake". Langet sawn off. And with a classic "engmatic mark" (http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10489&highlight=mysterious+markings+kaskara) too.....
