Indonesian small sword for I.D.

Hello dear members and happy new year !!

I just got this nice small Indonesian saber I think,
with silver mounts ((the guard too. )
The mix of Dutch??/colonial influence iis nteresting with a beautiful pamor blade ( maybe overetched ?)
With an heavy back but really sharp edges.

About influences, maybe an oriental touch with a pronounced yelman.

glad if you have information about age and the precise origin.

Hi,

A nice old indigeneous Javanese sword you have there. Probably especially made by Javanese craftsmen for a Dutch marechaussee
(By order or for real use or as a gift).

What are the measurements?

You clearly can see the Dutch colonial 'style' in this piece. Also the double edge of the blade tip could be derived from the Dutch Hembrug klewang 'clip point', but than more prolonged (according the blacksmiths or owners taste).

It is from around 1870!

It is 63cm long / 24.8 inches with scabbard.
Small sword ( a specific javanese name ?? )
''High status/ceremonial for me with the silver guard but with razor sharp blade )

do you know if we often find this kind of pamor blades on colonial Dutch like sabers ?
I usually saw this type of pamor on kriss

Agree with everything Maurice has stated! Nice one! And yes, this style is known. I would name it pedang. I just would rub the blade with WD40 and let it dry, then give it some oil. Very nice one, I like it. Have you tested the fittings for silver?

yes they are indeed silver
I first cleaned well the guard and the scabbard mounts who were darkened ( didn't take pics of before/after )
They easily became shiny again,
they are of course non-magnetic ? ( magnet test...)
and for the guard , I placed a little silver reagent on it
Because I wasn't 1000% sure

It's a really nice sword. I still look for something similar.
