Thanks, glad you like the spears. The photo is 30+ years ago. Regarding the "European spear blades" - perhaps both possibilities are correct.

It looks like its meant to be a Chokwe (Angola/Congo area) staff of office. However, given the low quality carving I would guess it was likely made for selling to Europeans (tourists).

Here is an image from the internet of a Shompen tribesman holding a spear. The profile of the spearhead looks similar to the Pitt-Rivers example. The Shompen people lived on Great Nicobar Island.
