I don't know, looks like elephant ivory to me, just cut differently, and probably from Indian elephant ivory.

On the one hand I see Charles' point of the horn...

On the one hand I see Charles' point of the horn punto sleeve being Yakan, and yet on the other hand the pommel is shorter than the usual Yakan barung pommel.

The blade looks Sulu to me and the patina and pattern on the pommel does look to be ivory to me.

The silver patina is not a great indicator of age. However the style of work is more so and I would think that the metal work fits more the 1940s - 1970s.

I don't think this is an archaic sgian dubh. The notches don't look right and the finger places don't look right either. Post-Victorian sgian dubhs changed more to the curvature of the calf muscle....
