If we look at the Iranun kampilan it too had a very thin blade but it seemed to work in practice for them at least against unarmored people.

Layers of pamor might present as such, but look at your own thumbprint, compare how fine the print lines on your thumb are. :shrug:

IIRC there is a Panabas with the same kind of decoration lurking somewhere in the archives.

My century old Kukri is used quite frequently at our house. I don't use it for veggies really; but if you want to split a chicken breast or a whole bird it is my go-to knife for such work. :)
