This photograph is of the uncleaned side of this sword without the reconstructed grip. The hilt is a variant of the "Tea-Cosy" or "mushroom" form, unusual in that it is generally of uniform thickness, minimally beveled at the periphery, and with flat faces parallel to the flats of the blade. The robust tang extends entirely through the pommel, being firmly "sweated" on, with a trace boundary visible on close examination. The crossguard is an iron bar with slightly rounded ends when viewed with the pommel towards your eye and is about the same thickness as the pommel.
