Smile NEW BRITAIN CLUB FORMS

NEW BRITAIN IS THE LARGEST ISLAND OFF PAPUA NEW GUINEA AND RIGHT BY NEW IRELAND. NEW BRITAIN IS ABOUT THE SIZE OF TAIWAN WITH LESS PEOPLE. THE MAP SHOWS NEW GUINEA AND THE TWO ISLAND GROUPS. THERE ARE SIMILARITY'S IN CLUBS FROM OTHER ISLANDS AS WELL AS FORMS DISTINCTIVE TO CERTAIN REGIONS AND TRIBAL GROUPS.
#1. MAP OF THE AREA.
#2. & #3. MY EXAMPLE IDENTIFIED AS FROM THE SULKA TRIBE NEW BRITAIN, 43 INCHES LONG FROM NEW BRITAIN ARCHIPELAGO, INTERIOR OF GAZELLE PENINSULA.
#4. & #5. TWO MORE PICTURES OF THE FORM. IT IS ILLUSTRATED ON PAGE 248, FIGURE 3 IN EDGE PARTINGTON'S BOOK. I HAVE ALL 3 CLUBS PICTURED TOGETHER.
#6. A DOUBLE HEADED FORM OF CLUB FROM NEW BRITAIN
#7. #8. #9. PICTURES OF CLUBS SHOWING EXAMPLES OF THE DOUBLE HEADED NEW BRITAIN CLUBS AS WELL AS OTHER FORMS FROM THE REGION. I HAVE AN EXAMPLE LIKE PICTURE #7.
#10. FROM OLDMAN'S CATALOG. EDGE PARTINGTON'S BOOK SHOWS 5 VARIATIONS OF THIS DOUBLE HEADED FORM OF CLUB. ONE HAS THE FEATHER AND FIBER DECORATIONS AS SHOWN IN ONE OF MY PICTURES.
# 11 & #12. AN EXAMPLE OF THE FORM WITH ONLY ONE END OR PERHAPS DAMAGED AND ONE END LOST. SAID TO BE FROM NEW IRELAND RATHER THAN NEW BRITAIN , 43.5 INCH LONG, 19 TH. CENTURY.
