Indonesian sword for identification, Sulawsi?

Hello dear members,

Some time ago I acquired a large Indonesian sword but I never before have seen a similar one but I guess that it is a Sulawesi sword.
Any ideas? Can someone provide a name for this one? It is 65 cm long inside the scabbard, 63 cm without, the blade alone has 48,5 cm and it's 10 mm thick at the spine directly behind the handle.

Yup, I agree with attributing this to Sulawesi, most likely from one of the southern peninsulas.

And yes, it's heavily laminated. Special the both batu lapak motives at the base are interesting.

Name will very likely depend on the ethnic group (once this can assigned to a specific group with any reasonable certainty) or village... Possibly one of the generic words for sword like kelewang or alameng won't be too far off the mark, I guess.

Yes, this makes sense since the blade shape is very similar, also when the one in the from you posted thread is much smaller.

With Alameng I can live very well, when you look to "Senjata Pusaka Bugis" there are also many swords just called as Alameng.
