Default European Pouch

Hello ALL. And Happy New Year - I hope LOL

I bought this small pouch some years ago at a very good price since the seller could not I.D. it's origin or time frame. Neither can I LOL Although it looks European - from some where.
It's well made with a wood under frame painted red, and covered in leather and brass trim. The pocket is empty with no compartment for anything special.
The small brass loops on the sides leads me to believe it was designed to hang from a chain on a belt or across the chest on a baldric. Maybe for a dress/parade/guard type uniform (?) Don't know.

Just thought someone here might recognize the CROWN as a clue to it's origin.
Thanks for any help.

Rick

Hi Rick,
Looks like the pouch from an officers cross belt. Originally for cartridges now a ceremonial uniform accessory. Here are some images pulled from the net.
Regards,
Norman.

P.S. The crown suggests to me continental European.

Hi Norman

Happy New Year. Thanks for the photos. That's what I was also thinking. There's no evidence there was ever anything inside the pouch. So mine was probably for display only. Maybe early 20th Century.
I tried researching various crowns, but no exact duplicate. So my guess is just a generic continental European crown as you mention. Thanks again for your reply.

Hi Fernando. Happy New Year. No problem. Wasn't sure which Forum to post it since it's, well, European miscellaneous. LOL

Happy new year to you too, Rick .
Yes, surely a ceremonial uniform version. I had one myself but mine had the symbol of the (Portuguese) military branch it belonged.

You might get a glimpse of this pouch in period photos if lucky. Try googling ammmunition pouch etc. under images may be the quickest way if there is another on the web.
