Very nice! The axe heads are fairly common, but it is wonderful to get this glimpse of an original haft and how the axe head was mounted. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks Lee, I occasionally run across excavated pieces on other sites and think I should post more of them here. Unfortunately many articles are lacking in good pictures but this one stood out well.

Very 'modern' and well made looking. I would have imagined something much more rustic, not well cut and finished as this piece is.
