Default Bhutan knife carry method

Hello. I am curious about the traditional use of the small loop on this Bhutanese knife sheath. Can anyone explain or have a photo they can share?

The king carries his sword on his right side, hnging from his sash by a strap.
Ministers and nobles carry theirs on the left.

Shorter daggers are carried in a fold of their garment that is used like a large pocket. Longer ones carried in/on their sash.
