Default Holster for flintlock pistol, pommel holster

Hi
I just purchased the attached and was wondering if I could get an opinion or two
Very well made hard leather, v good stitching and evidence of something more was once stitched around top of bucket
Loops going all the way round the upper part cut into leather so it could have a strap or rope all around its circumference
Leather v v heavy and 4 to 5 MM in thickness
No markings except EC stamped into leather

Length overall 15 inches
Diameter of narrow part 5 cm
Diameter of bucket part 10 cm

The chap in the shop reckoned if was a peg leg, to cover where limb was amputated, I do not think so especially as bottom part has no wear at all where it would be wearing against ground and no evidence of metal cap that would be used to tip the end.
I taught it might be a flintlock holster
I have it purchased now so whatever it is it is mine
Did not cost much so if it turns out to be a muzzle for a pelican let me know either way
Regards
Ken
