Ian,
Its very difficult to make out the hilt details of the sword in the photo of Captain Burnand but I think it must be. The sword is an un-numbered Wilkinson which puts it before 1854. Burnand was commissioned as cornet in the 5DG in 1850 so I imagine that's when he purchased the sword.
