Hi Charles,
If it's brass I agree that it's uncommon. It could also be a wooden area that originally had weaved rattan, which is more common? I find it hard to see on the pictures what it is except that it hasn't the same colour, or patina, as either the brass grip or the wooden fork extension. Michael |

Rats - talk about sleepers!
 I wonder if the new owner realized that this isn't an "Indo-Persian" piece...  Maybe he would be interested in swapping?  Seems to me to be brass on the pommel, too - let's see what Ben has to say about it. Regards, Kai |
