Mr. Maisey, I was referring to the variations in the shape of the Madurese warangka.

To my understanding, Madura, or in particular Sumenep which is considered to be the older (sepuh) cultural center there, has several common designs for warangka. Among other there are: 'daunan' ('leaves', akin to java-style ladrang, albeit more like 'capu'), dhang-odhangan ('shrimp', akin to jogja-style gayaman, though alot more shrimp-like in shape), and jurigan (more symmetrical, western-style scabbard often featuring the sumenep's crest or jaran panoleh, like what is shown at the beginning of this thread - though this one is rather simple).

There's a paper written by students from Universitas Negeri Surabaya titled "KARAKTERISTIK KERIS SUMENEP KOLEKSI MOCH. MANSHUR HIDAYAT" by Ahmad Erwin Siswanto and Nunuk Giari Murwandani on this topic - worth reading if you are keen on Madurese/Sumenep krises.

Thank you Jaya, I've had a look at that paper, just skimmed it, not yet read.

It appears to be a useful piece of work.
