Default Naval Dirk or something else?

Hi All:

I just picked this up and waiting for it to come in. 12 inches overall with an 8 inch blade. The spine is pretty thick. I don't know if there are any marking on the blade; hopefully will see it by next week.

Curious whether this is a naval dirk or something else. The cross guards seem similar to some naval dirks that I've seen out there.

Thanks

Upon further research, I suspect that this is a later 19th century piece and not a naval dirk. Perhaps Spanish American War period.

Good call, this seems Filipino punal, and literally tons of stuff was dragged outa there after that war. In an oblique sense, still in the Spanish colonial spectrum.
Attractive piece, and there is a notable interest in collecting in this field. Still a great deal of history involved, and the 'Spanish Main' was actually still quite active in these more recent times.

Thanks Jim. I appreciate it.

The seller has graciously agreed to accept it back, returned. Not my period of interest.
