Hi I am new to the forum because I am trying to learn if my newly inherited collection, is authentic weapons or just tourist trinkets? Let me know what your thoughts. I appreciate any input and guidance. |

Hi there. These are recently made by Windlass Steelcrafts, an Indian company that make knives and swords for Atlanta Cutlery. I had a couple of items that were not terrible quality but were reproductions of older weapons. They had a decent khukri IIRC. Your examples date from around 2000 and later. |

However these look very well made and I would not turn my nose up to the larger Kyhber knife |

Hi Tim, These are well made in my experience. Windlasss has apparently been making khukris for the Indian Government for many years. I bought one of their kukhris in the early 2000s but lost it after my home was broken into. The knife came with military spec drawings. I also had one of their Khyber knives that went the same way as the khukri. It was well made with a scabbard covered with ass hide. Can't speak to the quality of their reproduction swords but my experience suggests they are a level or two above the common "tourist" efforts, and they produce usable S. Asian weapons in a traditional style. Regards, Ian |
