			Could be Filipino.  If it is, it might be Tagalog (I have a similar piece) from Luzon, and from the time of the turn of the 20th century.  The engraving under the guard looks like a form of okir.  
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
	The "X" might be talismanic - common on lots of Philippine bladed weaponry.  |
