Second Wakizashi
18.5 inch long in what I understand to be 1870's satsuma attire, simple wrapping on handle, iron mounts and basic tsuba, no scabbard. The thing I am wondering about this is as follows. What are the two disc things under the wrap and is this a hand forged blade. It is in rough enough condition so I am unable to make out any hamon Cheers Ken |

The scabbard of the first one is military WW2 (leather combat cover), but blade is much older. Nakago is shortened and indeed remounted several times. I can't see anything of the blade. I'm guessing blade might have been made during Muromachi period (15 or 16th century).
Please do oil the nakago, but never clean that part of the blade! |
