Don't worry it's a real stuff, if you search on this forum at small tabouka and short kaskara, you will find plenty. They were just what they are: short swords. For the hilts, look at the discussion on jambiya. Chubby hands in North America and small hands in Yemen and Ethiopia, it's the diversity...
