Blade is quenched and most likely has a steel core. If it ever has been thicker, then less then 1mm, the fit in the sheath is near to perfect for an antique weapon. There never has been a middle ridge. Wooden parts are well chosen pieces with good grain, the join between the halves is hardly visible - overall best quality work. The appearance allows to place it surely before 1920, possibly around turn of centuries. Ivory grain echoes wood grain on scabbards throat-piece. Akar Bahar of this size is rare to find. Believed to possess protective qualities, even more as naturally grown form used for hilt. Reduced to EUR 800 |
