The blades do seem to originate from Java (indigenous work); apparently same-o for the fittings.

Maybe a Chinese descendant or a Chinese official in Indonesia ?

There have been many "Chinese" expat communities in Indonesia, originating especially from the southeastern trading ports.

BTW, has the scabbard a central piece of wood separating the 2 blades?
