Back in those days good Tibettan and Chinese stuff was fairly common. Most of these that I see now are small and often not old.

It looks as though there was wire on the hilt. Is the material under the remains or over it?

If it's gone it wouldn't be difficult to replace. The silver scabbards and mounts are sometimes plated sometimes solid. If solid they polish up quite well.
