is there moro to know about this item ,that i do not see ????

1. it has 27 waves in the blade .

2. there is a possibility the core of the blade is of twisted steel .

3. the tiny ivory pommel is usually a sign of an early sword .

I would be willing to bet that if the Seller had posted even halfway decent photos of this sword it would have sold for much more .

I wonder if it was originally a junggayan that was modified later (due to breakage). Carving could also be original, but just a little odd for the size of pommel.

Jose, that may be what bothered me about it. I kept looking at this and my little voice said something is not right. So I did not enter the fray. I agree the pictures where not the best. From my own perspective, if the pictures are not good there is usually a reason for it. Most sellers on ebay know what they have. Reference my thread awhile back about a potential twist core that the seller did not supply close ups when asked. I don't think that one was a twist core and I don't think this one is either.

Also the rattan wrap concerned me. I was thinking that it should have some kind of metal bands or at least better rattan weaving.

Besides a clean, patina free "ivory" pommel next to a aged pommel band & the rattan; the engraved lines appear like they were done with a electric engraving tool. The waves appear to be stock removal, original or not, hard to say but the with the rest of the oddities, I'd be concerned. The darkness of it, says a heavy acid etch, giving it some appearance of age. My guess is it was once a straight kris with a softer core & would be surprised to see someone post it with a twisted core. Of course, just my opinion from the present pictures.

I would say there is no twist core there but certainly a difference in steel.
Like some I have and had, this is most likely an old collection piece that is covered in a protective film, the centre will be an open pattern laminated steel and the outer edges a different finely laminated and very sharp steel.
When cleaned they do present a very attractive blade. The fine lines I can not comment on but fine quality lines are not unheard of.
