The only 19 in that piece is post 1950 .

Certainly not 19thC.

Very nice sword. I don't agree with the dating. More like 1940-60. I could see someone bidding over $300 for it but not much more. Guess it appealed to at least a couple of people.

as far as why it's so expensive; maybe it was a missing piece in that person's collection, or just what rick said, lol

As always, the seller's photographs are ridiculously good. Frankly, I've never seen better. Only inexperience would prevent a buyer from making an informed decision.

Um...did anyone notice that the reserve was not met so the only sucker in this case is the seller as he still owns this wonderful "19th century" sword.
