Hi all,

Attached is a picture of a keris recently sold in ebay. Unfortunately i had lost its item number, but i'm sure that you guys are aware of this keris.

I just would like to take this opportunity to congragulate its current owner on his enthuasism on kerisses. I am totally amused and have a high respect for a person that appreciates kerisses this much. It is a rare spirit. I am a Malay, and i rarely see this kind of enthsiasm even in a Malay. Of course we have less money, but even among the wealthy i rarely see this kind of enthusiasm.

I dont know the winner personally, but to Bill, i hope you enjoy your latest keris.

It is one VERY VERY good keris. I wish you best of luck in restoring the piece.

Yes Rasdan, this is a beautiful piece. Wish I had the money for one like it. Hilt is on backwards and needs some work on some of the silver sheeting that has ripped and on the blade some rust removal.

Flavio, the pommel is silver. So tarnished that it looks like horn or wood!

A little background on the seller. He is a Philippine butterfly knife collector. He was at a show with a table set-up when an old guy pushing a shopping cart with this sword (and all the others the seller has sold on eBay) rolled up to his table.

The original owner had all these swords just dumped into the cart. No protection at all.

He told the eBay seller that he had "traded cigarettes" for these during WWII and he considered them no more than decorator wall hangers.

Neither the dealer, nor the original owner had any idea about the value of these kris and barongs.

They made a deal for a small (undisclosed) amount of money and he was about to dump the cart in front of the dealer's booth

(so he could keep his shopping cart) when the dealer ran around and took them individually out of the cart.

The seller is still amazed that the pieces sold for so much. He is, of course, looking for more pieces.

That Junggayan is a work of art; what flawless construction!
This is not a cast pommel is it ?

Can you get some daylight pictures of this sword Bill?
