				 | Sulu sword

A Sulu sword with a blade that I’ve not encountered before. I say manufactured 1st half of the 20th century. Possibly bespoke sword for an American living in the Philippines. Along with the sword was a N.Luzon blanket with his name interwoven into it. Last edited by kino; 9th October 2024 at 07:46 AM. |

Sajen - Thanks. They’re both about the same age. Long blades as well. chmorshuutz - it does have some resemblance to a Bangkung blade, could be a later version. |

Roughly 1960s for the scabbard. This is now the fourth example I've seen of this style of sword, all about 1940s-1960s in the style of hilts and scabbards. Not a bangkung, at least not of the usual type. It would be nice to know what it is called.
