Some Philippine Swords for Viewing

It's been a while since I've posted anything constructive, so I thought I'd show some of my recent Philippine sword (and knife), acquisitions.I think they are mostly Visayan and from Luzon.
As usual any comments are appreciated.

Wow, nice new toys!

Again, some of this pieces seems to be worth a own thread, The Visayan dagger is just beautiful and I really would like to see more pictures from the sword with the twisted ball handle from horn!

Sajen, here are some additional pictures of the sword you expressed an interest in.It is very much a cleaving weapon, the blade measures 21.75" x 1.75" at it's widest and 3/8" thick at the base of the spine.

what a great sword! From which material are the inlays? Am I correct to see two different metals? Do have a own guess from where it coming?

I think that it has a very good age!

Thanks Sajen ; I would guess gold(and or brass), and silver, but this is only a guess.The blade feels like,it resembles(to me), a Dyak mandau, but the motifs look like it could be a Moro Mindanao piece.I think it is one of those cross cultural pieces(how's that for covering my bases ?).

My best guess would be Bicol or nearby. But this is just my guess and I could be wrong. The thickness of the blade, the shape at the base, all this let me think like this. But from where it ever coming, it's a beautiful sword, I am green with envy!

Drack2k, Thank you very much for sharing photos of your new acquisitions as they are each beautiful pieces in their own right. I must also say that I am also in agreement with Detlef on not only his opinion on these swords, but with the idea that each of these deserve their own separate thread.

I think these are the pictures that you requested.Sorry that I could not provide pictures sooner, but I have to depend on my wife to take them; usually this is not a problem, unless I open my big mouth(which usually is a problem), which can cause delays in the picture taking process.

Hello Drac2k, Thank you for posting the photos of these two very interesting swords. I am very sorry it has taken so long for my reply, but I have been extremely preoccupied with trying to get caught up on a work backlog and just now noticed them. I know that I should have ask about measurements at the same time I requested the photos, but as I did not, would you also be so kind as to supply them as well?

I'm pretty sure that we all have that box setting in the corner filled with our mistakes. There is always that piece (the one in the poor photos) that we just have to take a chance on. Sometimes we win and get a diamond other times the box gets more crowded.

Fantastic ! I love the incorporation of the guard in traditional weapons that don't usually have them;is this because of European influence or is it a naturally occurring transition ?

European influence - over all the knuckle guard was never very popular throughout the archipelago...
