				 | Marsh Iraqi Jambiya

Just ended on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/10-in-Curved-Ira...QQcmdZViewItem Typical Marsh Iraqi dagger, 20th C. Looks original to me. Hard to determine, but blade looks like wootz. I've seen so many of those, but never with damascus ridged blade. Most have flat steel blades, so that is why it caught my attention. At any rate, I think it's a terrific deal for an original 20 C. (or even late 19C) Jambiya with silver, horn and wootz? Any coments? Thanks. |

Just found almost identical Marsh Jambiya on my favorite site: http://www.oriental-arms.com/item.php?id=289 Now I know it is wootz indeed... thanks to Oriental Arms for a great reference. |

Alex I was watching that one and yes it seems like a wootz blade. When you get please post some better pics. Congrats on a nice piece. It is the same exact one Artzi has pictured? Lew Last edited by LOUIEBLADES; 9th November 2006 at 05:14 PM. |

I think one of two things happened here 1) The guy who bought it from Artzi needed to sell it and basically didn't get the price he wanted or 2) The owner passed and the wife or family just wanted to get rid of it . I think it was the latter reason so guys make sure you tag you items . That jambiya sold for a fraction of it's real value. Lew |
